Hotels in Redang

Lush jungle, perfect beaches, and gently lapping waves make the island of Pulau Redang a favourite Malaysian summer destination. Hotels in Redang make the perfect base for a relaxing holiday, whether you’re enjoying a romantic break with your partner or a scuba diving holiday with your friends.

Excellent diving and snorkelling are to be expected; the island is in the middle of a marine park, after all. The beautiful coral reefs of Redang and its surrounding islands make it a top spot for underwater adventures. Plenty of colourful fish and majestic sea turtles call the waters around Redang home. Most of the hotels in Redang offer boat trip packages, and the majority of the island’s resorts have their own dive shops where you can hire gear or book in for a few lessons.

High octane activities like jet-skiing and water-skiing are banned in the waters around Redang in order to protect the coral. If you really want to get out on top of the waves it’s possible to hire sea kayaks. Although fishing in the marine park is also strictly prohibited, you can hire boats and go on excursions outside of the park’s boundaries. Other activities you can enjoy in Redang are volleyball, swimming, and simply relaxing on the pristine beaches.

The nightlife in Redang is low key. Alcohol is served in hotel restaurants and bars, and most of the nightlife is restricted to the resorts. Some bars offer extra entertainment, for example karaoke evenings, while others specialise in chart topping music and stay open late.

Most of the accommodation on Redang comes in the form of luxury and mid-range resorts. There are very few options for backpackers, although it’s well worth splashing out on high end accommodation for a trip to this paradise island. While most of the resorts are all inclusive and offer leisure packages, you won’t be surrounded by Westerners all the time. Holidays in Redang are popular with weekend breakers from Singapore and the Malaysian mainland.

Redang is most popular during the dry season, which lasts from March to October. It can be difficult to find accommodation during monsoon season as most of the resorts and hotels in Redang are closed.
