Hotels in Kampung Tekek

Beautiful Tioman may be the most developed of Malaysia’s eastern islands, but it still maintains a relatively unspoiled atmosphere. Nearly 200 thousand people book hotels in Tioman each year in search of their perfect beach holiday. Now’s the perfect time to join them.

Tioman first shot to fame in 1958, when its pristine beaches were used in the film South Pacific as exotic paradise island Bali Hai. During the 1970’s Time Magazine named Tioman as one of the most beautiful islands in the world. It’s not hard to see why. Tioman sits within the Mersing Marine Park and is lapped by turquoise waters. The emerald green hills of the island are dotted with beautiful hibiscus flowers, while the sea is full of coral reefs.

Accommodation is abundant in Tioman, and is spread out evenly so you will never feel like you’re in a commercial resort. The largest village on the island is Tekek, which has plenty of hotels and resorts nearby. The little nightlife the island has can also be found around here, with a few bars and cafes lining the coast road to Air Batang. Some of the bars even host bonfire parties on the beach.

Cheap accommodation in Tioman can be found towards the north coast near the villages of Air Batang and Salang. Budget options range from beds in hostel dorms to your own private hut.  Air Batang (also known as ABC) has a few small bars and restaurants.

Scuba diving is one of the most popular reasons to visit Tioman. There are lots of great dive sites on the north of the island, especially near Salang. Most of the villages on Tioman have their own dive schools, so even if you’re a complete novice you can enjoy diving beauty spots like Tiger Reef, Golden Reef, and Sea Fan Canyon. Snorkelling is also popular. If you get bored of snorkelling on your own beach, speak to your hotel receptionist. Many of the resorts on Tioman offer excursions to the smaller uninhabited islands elsewhere in the marine park.

Finding your own little slice of island paradise is easy when you search for accommodation with Skyscanner. We make finding the perfect place to stay simple: whether you’re looking for all out luxury or a cheap and cheerful getaway.
