They are two very small islands in the Mediterranean sea, about 100 km south from Sicily, maybe closer to Africa than Italy. Together they are called Pelagie Islands and are a quite famous touristic spot in Italy. The transparent waters of Lampedusa are maybe one of the most appealing of the whole Mediterraneo. I think that only some places in Sardinia could compare the beauty of these waters. You could swimm in quite deep waters and see your shadow on the sand beneath you!!!! really charming! Linosa is volcanic and has dark stone beaches. Lampedusa has marvellous sand beaches. It is very hot in summer and the vegetation is typical of North Africa so, be careful with the sun. However I suggest avoiding August: it is overcrowded.
