Really pretty town less than 2 hours outside of Dublin. In addition to an interesting downtown, there is also a castle and old brewery worth visiting.

Kilkenny is a small town mostly dominated by the looming castle and a cluster of pubs along the cobblestoned streets. We used this as a launchpad for Cork and the South coast, but definitely enjoyed an evening at the pub and a morning along the river and castle.

Kilkenny is a must see while you stay at the castle, it's a beautiful medieval city only about 40 mins from the castle, there I recommend you visit the castle, the Kilkenny design centre across the street from the castle, St Canice's Cathedral, Smithwicks brewery and spend time discovering the cafes, great pubs, shops and romantic streets.
