One of Tamil Nadu's hill stations, west near the border with Kerala, Kodaikanal is merely okay. One of the stops on the Israeli backpacker circuit of the subcontinent, it's popular amongst the post-service-requirement crowd for cheap hashish and equally cheap digs, and though walks in the surrounding hills can be quite pleasant, you're better off in Munnar a few hours to the west if you're looking for real atmosphere.
