Sylt – a best kept secret beach, resort and nightclub haven for German aficionados in the know – and there is a reason. Brrr – definitely a retreat for the hardy. I’m sure they have sunny days, blue skies and warm weather – but I’ve rarely seen it. Steel skies and chill breezes off the beach are more my luck. They even have nude beaches for hearty nature lovers. Great places to stay, great places to eat and some wild places to party.
The fourth largest island in the German North Sea and Europe's answer to Martha's Vineyard (it was used as the location for it in Roman Polanski's movie 'The Ghost'). Also a UNESCO World Heritage site. The real attraction here during warmer months is the 40km-long beach - as much a curse when the seas are rougher, in terms of land erosion. The island has its own, curious dialect too: a mix between Dutch, English and Danish.
What a island. List and the beach, i like.
