An unexpectedly fun destination, if home and garden and food is your jam, then Waco is a definite road trip stop. We stopped on our way from Austin to Dallas and then again I the way back from Dallas to Austin. We had so much fun at the Silos, where there's a garden, a play/ hangout area for kids and families, food trucks, the Agnolia Store, the The Silos baking Co., and the suspension bridge a beautiful park, and other great local places to eat.

While not a huge destination people think of, it's a great stopover spot between Austin and Dallas. Also, with the popularity of the HGTV stars, Chip and Joanna, this place has definitely seen an uptick in visitors.

New furniture! I know it doesn't account for backpacking, but it's up there.

By far my favorite location in Waco. If you are unfortunate enough to be stuck living here, have no fear! It really isn't that bad! You can find plenty to occupy your time and everything is pretty cheap (living/lodge/food/activities)
