On the Northern edge of Santa Barbara county is the quietly sprawling city of Santa Maria. Its population density rivals that of Santa Barbara, but somehow it has still been able to maintain a slower small town pace. Agriculture and cattle ranching are the main industries, with local wineries becoming increasingly popular. The town has many attributes, including an indoor shopping mall, community college, performing arts theater, several farmers markets and even a miniature golf course.
