It takes a bit of doing to get to Mammoth Lakes, but the effort is well worth it. The town is set in a valley that's surrounded by mountains making it feel like an alpine village. The area has interesting geological features and home to many hot springs, the best of which is Whitmore Hot Spring. This open air spring looks out over the valley and to the mountains beyond - it's strikingly beautiful.
This place is beyond one of my most favorite towns cities or villages in the entire world. When I come here everything resets. I am very relaxed, take everything in stride and just roll with it. Trust me they have some great grub here and I will admit some terrible grub to. Regardless, this place is unqiue in a great way and everyone that I know loves to spend time here.
