Everything's in Honolulu. You can find great food, shopping, and even hikes! Great for everyone
I had been led to believe that I would not like Honolulu. It was described as busy, crowded, urban...so much so that my intention had been not to stop here at all. When we got stranded here for a couple days (a long story involving crooked craigslist fraudsters) we were a little bummed - only to discover that Honolulu is actually amazing. The beaches at Waikiki, while not secluded, are gorgeous. The restaurants are great. While we did get stuck in traffic on Friday night, otherwise we found parking reasonably easy. By the time we could go we were not sure we were quite ready. That was a great surprise.
This is the main city of the State of Hawaii. The State Capitol is here, along with Waikiki Beach, Iolani Palace, Ala Moana Shopping Center, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and the Neal Blaisdell Center. There are many restaurants and sightseeing opportunities. Highly recommended for every traveler!
If you drive around Oahu you'll be able to find a nice empty beach. It doesn't matter what spot, but can just sit for hours without distraction. You'll see lots more fish, unlike the wall in the water around Honolulu beach. Any where you look you'll be amazed! Awesome how close the road is to the water!
