The beaches are amazing, but the collapse of the lumber and fishing industries hit this place hard. If you've seen the Ewoks running around on Endor, you've seen some of the local area.

Sandwiched between the Redwoods and the West coast, I'm not sure you could go wrong here. Whale watching in late fall or early winter, tide-pool exploring anytime, battery point lighthouse, Redwood national park, Smith State Park (a great place to camp), etc etc. Fun, beautiful, and friendly!
