As a native Houstonian and former Austin denizen, I’d be remiss to omit details of its beautiful, metropolitan chaparral: for the adventurous I’d recommend the auburn slopes of Enchanted Rock or a hike along the impact greenbelt. Silkier park is ideal for families, ACL hosts the hipster holy grail of music festivals, and SXSW is an ideal proscenium for indie filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts alike. As for food, Torchys Tacos cannot be missed, neither so is the amazing Mexican vanilla at Amy’s Ice Cream - it almost makes me regret going vegan...almost.
A lot newer and cleaner than I’ve expected. Lots of new shiny glass tall buildings and very clean hipster type city.
Totally recommend! Very artsy, the people are great, also nightlife is good! Awesome vacation here.
Austin is a great place to visit. Especially during festival season. Easy to navigate and so many places to discover.
