I loved Al Ain for the history and old buildings. We visited the old fort, the palace and the oasis. Each offered a fascinating look back to desert life in the past.

Al Ain is a charming desert oasis town on the border of Oman and the United Arab Emirates. More oasis than desert, the city provides most of the charms of its more cosmopolitan sister cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai with out all the urban baggage such as traffic jams and hour long commutes. Emiratis actually outnumber the expats here! Three cinemas and as many shopping malls offer much needed air conditioned refuge from the Arabian sun when it tops out in the summer near the boiling point.

Al Ain is one of the most beautiful Emirates in all of the UAE. It's charming and unique compared to the others. It tends to have cooler temps in the summer as well.
