The capital of Nepal, in all its madness and chaos and peace, is the entry point into the country and worthy of at least a few days of exploring. I enjoyed the stupas and historical sites the most.

The capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, is the largest city of the country, featuring unique and interesting architectural marvels and temples. The highlight of your trip here should be The Monkey Temple, Baudhanath Stupa, the Durbar Square, Patan, and Thamel districts to name a few.

For a western eye, Kathmandu is somewhat familiar, somewhat unique. Few temples and monasteries and that's pretty much it. However, the journey of serenity starts once you leave the capital. For a warm-up eye candy, it's perfect.
