Essaouira is a great learning spot for beginning surfers. The waves here are small and forgiving, perfect for a first-timer looking to get their footing.

Essaouira is a gorgeous city and quite a different vibe than Marrakech. Get lost in the alleyways. Explore the fish markets. Walk along the beach. If you're coming from Marrakech, definitely visit some argan co-ops along the way.
