Hair raising visit to Lourdes, France and visited the place of the actual apparition of Blessed Virgin Mary to Bernadette Soubiros. Was able to drink from the miraculous fountains and had an immersion in the holy waters of Lourdes.

One of the most visited towns in France, Lourdes is a major pilgrimage spot for Roman Catholics. Over seven million come here annually to celebrate Our Lady of Lourdes, who appeared as an apparition calling for the founding of a chapel at this very spot.

I have a soft spot for religious sites... This happens to be a religious site. Generally religious sites have a lot going for them.. architecture, history, views, location, etc. There's something to be said when you are at a site that people of faith become pilgrims and journey to. This is again one of those places. I admit that I got in line for the water to drink and bottle. Who knows if there's anything to it beyond that of faith. But then again I think that most travelers would agree, that I see life as being a cup half full rather than the opposite.
