We stayed in Puerto Plata but hanged out at the beach in Sosua. Puerto Plata is a small town, not much to do except for taking the tram up the hill to see the view.
Due to the horrible resort I stayed at, I don't have very fond memories of Puerto Plata. The congested center of town is surrounded by gated resorts and communities. I won't return.
This is the city - more like a town, where you arrive if staying at the eastern end of the Dominican Republic. Look out for the airport buildings, they're covered in palm leaves! All the people are friendly but poor too.
WONDERFUL WEATHER, LOVELY RESORT, GREAT STAFF, GREAT PLACE TO MEET NEW PEOPLE WHO ARE FUN AND FRIENDLY
