This port town near the border with Panama is situated between forested hills and Golfo Dulce, one of the deepest gulfs of its size in the world. This position makes it a popular sport fishing destination and a frequent stop for cruise ships and yachts.

If you are going to Corcovado and want to take land transport. The easiest way is probably to take a bus here, and then grab the ferry across the bay. Golfito offers some good seafood options, and a decent starting point for exploring the Golfo Dulce and doing water sports.
