Monkey Mia is one of the few places in the world where you are guaranteed to see dolphins in the wild. Each day at a certain time, the dolphins come to shore and are fed by the rangers who work at the beach. A few lucky people from the crowd will be chosen to feed the dolphins some fish and the dolphins love it. The care of the dolphins is strict and no one is allowed to touch them, which is good. Scientists use the regularity of the dolphin visits to study their behaviour and to learn more about the species.

Since the 1960's, friendly dolphins have been fronting up for daily snacks. Between 8am and noon, rangers invite you into the warm waters of Monkey Mia Reserve where up to 26 dolphins will cruise by to check you out, from just a few feet away. You can't touch the smiley cetaceans but a lucky few will have the chance to offer the dolphins a fish. Entry is just $8 (as of April, 2013) and you are welcome to attend any of the three feedings as well as enjoy the beach at the resort area with that entry fee.
