Goa's Dabolim Airport – popularly known as Goa International Airport – is located 29 kilometres southwest of the capital Panaji and 4 kilometres southeast of Vasco da Gama.
There is one runway at Dabolim airport and the integrated terminal building at the airport handles both domestic as well as international passengers. There are 8 aerobridges, 75 check-in counters, 22 immigration counters for departures and 18 for arrivals, 14 security check booths and 8 customs counters at departures.
Check-in for both domestic and international arrivals and departures is on the ground floor of the building; the first floor handles domestic and international arrivals and houses security, customs and immigration as well. The domestic and international security hold facility is located on the second floor.
Since both domestic and international terminals are in one building, there is no airport transfer required. The terminals also have smoking lounges, snack bars, duty free shopping, child care areas, a spa and restaurants.
Dabolim is very well connected by bus – public and private buses which leave at regular intervals connect most major parts of the state with the airport. Public buses take you till Vasco da Gama – which is about 4 kilometres away from the airport – or to a bus stop at Chicalim, which is only about 1.5 kilometres away. Local mini-buses cover the rest of the distance from both these locations to the airport.
Most hotels run a shuttle service to the airport, so it would be a good idea to check with the hotel you are staying at before hiring a taxi. The time needed to get to the airport from Panaji (Panjim) is about 45 minutes, depending on traffic.
You can get to the airport by train as well. The closest railway station to the airport is Dabolim Station, only about one kilometre away from the airport.
You can opt to hire a taxi from the airport, take the bus from Vasco da Gama or rent a car for your Goa trip. There is also the option of getting on to a train from Vasco da Gama – you will be connected to Margao in south Goa, Trivim in the north, Carambolim and Ponda.
Getting a pre-paid taxi to Panaji should cost about INR 500 and take you 45 minutes to cover the distance. The pre-paid taxi counter is located right outside the terminal building.
Private buses operate from outside the airport terminal as well. These buses run every half an hour and connect the airport to Panjim, Mapusa, Ponda and Margoa. You could also choose to go only till the nearby Chicalim bus stop or Vasco da Gama and change your mode of transport from there.
Car rental facilities are also available at the airport.
The terminal building is equipped with a bank, ATMs of several banks and money exchange counters.
There is one car park that serves the Goa International Airport. It is located right outside the terminal building. The car park has a capacity of about 350 cars and 10 coaches, with options for short-term as well as long-term parking.
