Olbia’s pavement cafes, trendy wine bars, and authentic atmosphere make it a top choice for a base in Sardinia. Most people bypass the city itself. It’s mostly seen as the gateway to Sardinia’s Emerald Coast (the Costa Smeralda): a favourite destination with celebs and Italian jet-setters. Expect pristine white beaches, high end restaurants, and plenty of glamour.
Olbia is also a great entry point for people travelling elsewhere in the north of Sardinia. South of the airport you’ll find beautiful countryside packed with rugged hills, peaceful beaches, and verdant nature parks.
