So Hip it Hurts
For a supercharged Jamaican vacation, fly to Montego Bay! Not exactly the place for peace and quiet being the favoured destination for American ‘spring-breakers’, cruises and holiday makers from around the globe. You’re never likely to find yourself alone.
However, with glorious beaches (Doctors Cave is the most beautiful), turquoise waters, water sports, shops, bars, restaurants and more nightlife than you could manage in a few weeks, there is plenty to keep visitors happy. Most of these attractions can be found on Gloucester Avenue…or the ‘hip strip’ as it’s locally known.
Downtown is perfect for getting away from the resorts and bars and touring some of the colonial architecture and crumbling Georgian buildings. There are excellent museums where you're guaranteed a little peace and quiet and a theatre for more sophisticated evening recreation.
Can’t decide what to have with your Red Stripe beer? Fear not, there are many options for dining out and seafood in Montego Bay is very good indeed.
Montego Bay is touristy, yes but also a great place to let your hair down and party your troubles away.
