Flights to Isles of Scilly
Beautiful beaches, miles of empty road, and a lack of multinational chains make the Isles of Scilly a pleasant place to visit. They might be just off the coast of Cornwall, but they really do feel like a different world. There are over 140 islands in the archipelago, but only five are inhabited: St Mary's, Tresco, Bryher, St Martin's and St Agnes. For a relaxing beach holiday without lengthy international flights, look no further.
Airports in Isles of Scilly
St Mary's Airport (ISC) serves the Isles of Scilly. The airport is small and isn't open every day. A walking path passes the southern end of the runway. Thankfully it's closed during take-offs and landings, as a sort of level-crossing system is in operation.
Airlines that fly to Isles of Scilly
The Isles of Scilly Skybus is currently the only airline currently serving the islands. It departs from Newquay, Land's End and Exeter.
Getting to your destination
There's a bus service between Hugh Town and the airport, but don't count too heavily on it as it's not very frequent. There are a few taxi companies on the island, too: we recommend booking yours in advance to beat the inevitable rush when the plane lands. Regular ferries connect St Mary's island (where the airport is located) with Tresco, Bryner, St Martin's and St Agnes. Crossings are more frequent during the summer months.

What to see and do
Explore on foot: The Isles of Scilly were designed for walkers, and with very few cars about it's easy to get around on foot (or by bicycle). Expect to see lighthouses, gardens, historic buildings and plenty of gorgeous coastal scenery during your trek.
Go to the beach: The blue waters and soft sands of these islands could easily rival the Caribbean, especially on a warm summer day. Best of all, most of the hotels on the island are within ten minute's walk from one. St Martin's is considered to have the best beaches, so if you're staying elsewhere make an effort to take the ferry over for an afternoon.
Twitch: Birdwatching is extremely popular on the Isles of Scilly, and for good reason. The islands are home to many birds that are no longer found on the British mainland, and are in the ideal location for migrating flocks to stop off for a rest.
