Young, modern, and extremely cosmopolitan, Ankara is a city well worth discovering. While it lacks the Ottoman architecture and old world charm of Istanbul, Ankara still has plenty to entertain its visitors. You can sip Turkish tea in the historic old quarter of Ulus, party with the students in the backstreets of Kavaklidere, or dine with the upper crust of Turkish society in the posh restaurants of Filistin Street. There are interesting museums, beautiful mosques, and a medieval castle surrounded by antique and carpet shops.
It’s a taste of the real Turkey, and with a strategic location bang smack in the middle of the country, it’s the perfect base to get out and discover everything that the country has to offer.
