Dalaman airports

Dalaman Airport (DLM) serves Dalaman and the nearby tourist resorts. It has two terminals: one for international flights and the other for domestic routes. Check-in and departure are upstairs, while arrivals use the bottom floors. Most of the transportation from the airport is private: taxis, car hire and hotel transfers are all available on arrival but it's better to pre-book.

 

When to go to Dalaman

Turkey's turquoise coast springs into action during summer. Temperatures are high, the bars are in full swing, and the streets are crowded. Spring and autumn are great if you want a more peaceful holiday, without sacrificing warm weather. You're more likely to get a good hotel deal as the resorts are quieter, but note that some businesses close during the low season. It can also be difficult to find direct flights at these times of year, as some carriers only fly this route during the summer.

 

What’s the weather like in Dalaman?

Summers are hot and winters are mild. You can expect highs of 31°C during July and August, with highs approaching 30°C in June and September. If you visit over Christmas you can expect an average temperature of 10°C: it rarely gets colder than 5 during January and February, the region's coldest months. December and January are the wettest months, with an average of two weeks of rain. You probably won't need to pack your umbrella.

 

What to see and do in Dalaman

Dalaman is the gateway to popular holiday destinations like Marmaris, Fethiye and Dalyan. Right in the southwest corner of Turkey, the area is renowned for its beautiful turquoise seas. Choose a resort and plonk yourself there for a week of sunshine, or hire a car and explore the region at your leisure. Loggerhead turtles bask on the beaches near Dalaman while ancient ruins pepper the hills. The clear waters near Marmaris are beloved by scuba divers, an ideal place to get your PADI license. Fethiye has some great bazaars where you can hone your haggling skills over Turkish delight, silk scarves and olive oil soap.
