Airlines that fly to Cagliari
British Airways and easyJet both fly direct to Cagliari from the UK. Flybe and Meridiana also fly to Cagliari on a seasonal, summer, basis with Flybe offering a charter service.
Getting into Cagliari
An airport shuttle is provided by Azienda Regionale Transporti (ARST) and takes passengers from the airport to the central bus station. The journey takes ten minutes, and tickets cost €4* (about £3.20) each way. From downtown Cagliari you can find further transport to take you to your onward destination, if you’re staying elsewhere in Sardinia.
It’s also possible to take the train from the Elmas Aeroporto railway station, which is a five minute walk from the terminal and brings travellers to downtown Cagliari in 5-7 minutes. One way tickets cost €1.25* (about £1).
Hiring a car is best if you’re staying outside of Cagliari in a rural area, as public transport in Sardinia is less frequent outside of the main towns. There’s a huge variety of car hire companies to choose from at the airport including Avis, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt as well as local brands like Sardinya Autonoleggio.
Taxis are also available, and the average daytime journey to downtown Cagliari costs €15-20* (about £12-16). Remember that fares vary between cab companies, so confirm with the driver before hopping in.
