When to go to Amsterdam
Summer is prime time to visit Amsterdam. You'll need to plan well in advance if you want to get your hands on cheap flights and cheap hotel rooms, as demand is high. Spring and autumn are also excellent times to visit the city. You're more likely to get a good deal, the attractions are quieter, and the weather is still mild. The Amsterdam Fringe Festival takes place in September (as does the funky Jordaan Festival). If you're visiting during spring, make time for the Tulip Festival in April.
What’s the weather like in Amsterdam?
Warm summers, cold winters, and mild shoulder seasons. If you visit during July and August you can expect highs of 21°C, but visit during January and February and you can expect lows of 0°C. If you're visiting during spring you can expect highs of 17°C in May. During September you can expect highs of 18°C. The temperature doesn't drop substantially until November, and begins to climb again in April.

Craft beer bars, art museums, and quirky flea markets pepper the city. Just watch out for the trams. If cycling isn't your idea of fun, you can get around on the aforementioned trams or hop on a canal boat. Amsterdam is a flat city and easy to wander on foot. Just remember to pack comfy shoes: once you start walking you might not want to stop.
