Visit the heart of Europe
What’s the best stuff to do in Prague?

Central Prague is broken up into numbered districts. For example, Prague 1 is the area surrounding the castle. Numbering goes up to 22 and makes it easy to navigate around the city.

8 of the best things to do in Prague
Whether you’ve got a long weekend to fill up or you’re taking a more leisurely trip, here are some of our favourite attractions in Prague.
Visit Letna Park

Prague 7
Letna Park is a sprawling green space with incredible views of the heart of Prague. Found on a hill by the river, it’s the perfect place to soak up some sun when the weather’s suitable.
Dotted through the park are different monuments, like the statue of a pebble and the Prague metronome. There’s also a beer garden where you can soak in the views of the famous bridges.

Taste a beer at Pilsner Urquell

Plzen 1
An hour away from Prague, in the town of Plzen, is the famous Pilsner Urquell brewery. Home to the world’s first pale lager, which made the ‘pilsner’ name travel far and wide.
You can join a tour for 380 koruna (about £13) which includes a free tasting. You’ll get to learn about the history of the brewery from 1842 to today and see why it’s become the model for most of the world’s other lagers.
See the bizarre Grotto

Prague 1
This public garden, part of Wallenstein Palace, has a unique mix of the natural and the very unnatural.
The standout feature is the Dripstone Wall, which consists of a large collection of stalactite formations. The shapes can resemble various faces, both human and animal. With a little imagination, you might spot figures that make you laugh, scare, or evoke a sense of wonder.
Insider tip:
This part of the gardens is only open from April through to October.
Take a cruise along the river

Citywide
The Vltava is the Czech Republic’s longest river and its capital is built around its banks, with many important buildings flanking the water. Taking a river cruise is one of the best things to do in Prague as it gives you a quick and easy way to see and learn about many of the prominent landmarks.
There are plenty of companies vying for your custom. You can choose between lunch, dinner and fine dining cruises. Private cruises, bike boat cruises and booze cruises – there are plenty of choices to suit your schedule and budget.

Grab a drink at The Cross Club

Prague 7
Similar to the ruin bars in Budapest, The Cross Club is a bar that leaves a lasting impression.
Built in a converted factory, the steam punk inspired venue has three floors to explore, each offering a different experience. Whether you want a live band, electronic beats, an art space or somewhere quiet to chat, there’s an area for you.
Get a fright at Thrill Park

Prague 1
A theme park with a difference: Thrill Park is part excitement, part horror. There are two main parts to the attraction: the dungeon and the escape room.
In the dungeon, you’ll walk through a poorly lit maze in the basement of an old building. Escape the crazy butcher and all the other new friends you’ll meet along the way, just try not to look too frightened for the end-of-tour photos.
In the escape room, you become a subject in a human experiment. Work out the secrets of the lab with your team in order to escape.
Insider tip:
Pick your favourite or combine both (roughly 65 minutes) for a truly frightening experience. You can buy souvenir photos at the end.
Tour the Old Town Square

Prague 1
As with many European cities, Prague is blessed with an incredible ancient town square. The Old Town Square is a must-see attraction, with things like the Astronomical Clock and the Church of Our Lady in its midst.
Most walking tours of Prague start in the Old Town Square. Join one to find out about the history of the city and to get an idea of the lay of the land. At Easter and Christmas, the area is transformed by the seasonal markets that the city is known for.
Insider tip:
In the olden days, Prague’s Old Town Square was at the cross roads of the main trade routes in Europe.
Take a tour of Prague Castle

Prague 1
Dating back to the 9th century, Prague Castle is a dominating structure in the Czech capital’s skyline. It’s been home to Bohemian kings, Roman emperors and, today, the Czech president. It’s the most popular thing to see in Prague among tourists.
The castle is considered one of the biggest of its kind in the world and features a small town within its walls. Among the many buildings you’ll see, the cathedral is perhaps the most striking.
Guided tours of the castle and cathedral can be booked online. They cost 250 Czech koruna (roughly £8.50).

Top tips:

The currency in Czechia is the koruna. £1 is roughly 30 koruna.

Czechia is the country with the most castles per capita in the world.
