We’re proud to be part of Travalyst

We’re proud to be part of Travalyst. Launched today by The Duke of Sussex, Travalyst is a movement co-founded by the world’s leading travel service companies, including Skyscanner.

We’re joined by Booking.com, Ctrip, TripAdvisor and Visa and together we aim to mobilise the travel industry as a catalyst for good, aiming to transform the future of travel for everyone.

Here at Skyscanner we want to support travellers to both explore and protect our planet. We believe that travel is special in that it brings together cultures and communities. As our CEO Bryan Dove says; “We have an obligation to preserve our world for future generations to explore and enjoy.”

“Global travel is a modern-day gift, bringing together cultures and communities across our planet.  As such, we have an obligation to preserve our world for future generations to explore and enjoy – but to do this we need to act now as change won’t happen overnight. As the biggest players in the travel industry we have a responsibility to use our collective scale to lead this change.” Bryan Dove, Skyscanner CEO

Increasingly, consumers want easy and transparent access to a wider range of options to travel more sustainably. Travalyst wants to help companies meet that demand. It’s not a small task, but the collective scale of those who make up Travalyst can do much to help drive a fundamental change.

We know that change won’t happen overnight. At Skyscanner, we’re taking our own first steps to encourage conscious travel. You may well have seen our eco label on some flights results, highlighting options with lower CO2 emissions. Over the last 12 months, 10 million travellers using Skyscanner have selected that option. We’ve also tested suggesting alternative destinations for places that particularly suffer from over-tourism on their resources, cultural sites or local environment. And we’ve partnered with SkyNRG, the global market leader for sustainable aviation fuels. Their SAF is made from waste oils, like used cooking oil, and achieves up to 75% less CO2 emissions.

This is the start of our journey. Through Travalyst our hope is to help lead a fundamental change in the industry.
