The D66 road is only a few minutes away from the airport. Getting to your destination

Pula

Right on the tip of the Istrian peninsula, Pula has plenty of gorgeous beaches and intriguing Roman ruins. Despite Pula’s diminutive size there’s still plenty to see and do. We’ve put together our top picks for things to do in Pula and nearby Rovinj.

Pula is about 15 minutes drive from the airport. Parking in the town is no problem, with plenty of car parks to choose from. Prices range from 4kn to 15kn per hour (about 40p to £1.45), depending on the zone you leave your car in. Some hotels in Pula offer guest car parking: remember to check this option when searching for accommodation.

Rovinj

A Mediterranean fishing village with a strollable old town and plenty of boutique hotels and fancy restaurants, it’s easy to see why Rovinj is one of Istria’s top destinations.

Rovinj is just over half an hour’s drive from Pula Airport. During the summer it can be tricky to find a parking space. If you can’t find a hotel with parking it’s worth speaking to the accommodation owners to find out if they can recommend somewhere nearby to leave your car. There are some car parks dotted about, but the closer you get to town the busier (and more expensive) they become.

Opatija

Grand hotels, high end restaurants and beautiful belle époque buildings ensure that the seaside resort of Opatija is one of the classiest destinations on the Istrian coast.

It takes just over an hour to reach Opatija from Pula Airport. There are plenty of places to park, with some large underground and surface car parks. On-street parking is available and charges usually apply from 7am until 7pm. Lots of tourists arrive in Opatija by car, so most of the hotels in and around the town offer customer parking.
