Getting to your destination
One of the most popular destinations in Australia, Surfer’s Paradise does exactly what it says on the tin. Great waves, gorgeous beaches, and a vibrant nightlife make the area a popular choice with everyone: from families looking for a chilled out holiday to watersport enthusiasts who play hard and party harder.
It takes just over half an hour to drive to Surfer’s Paradise from the airport. It can be hard to find a parking space in downtown Surfer’s Paradise, so try to choose a hotel with parking. If you do want to bring your car out for the afternoon or evening you’ll find a good range of multi-storey car parks. On-street parking is available at $3.30* (about £1.55) per hour from Monday to Saturday 9am to 7pm and on Sunday from 9am to 5pm.
If the bright lights and loud music of Surfer’s Paradise are a little too much for you, head to Broadbeach instead. This tourist enclave is a little quieter but still has plenty going on.
It takes about 25 minutes to drive to Broadbeach from Gold Coast Airport. On-street parking costs $3 (about £1.40) per hour. Charges are applicable from Monday to Saturday 9am to 7pm and on Sunday from 9am to 5pm. There are also some off-street car parks. As usual we recommend choosing a hotel with its own car park.
Lovely beaches, excellent scuba diving, and fantastic opportunities for bush walking make the southern Gold Coast an interesting place to stay during your trip.
It only takes five minutes to drive into downtown Coolangatta from the airport. There are lots of places to park your car, with a good variety of on-street spaces, council run car parks and privately owned garages.
