There is a BP service station on the A2 to the north of the airport, and a Total to the south. Both are within ten minutes drive, and are equally convenient if you're coming from the respective directions.
Driving around Maastricht Airport
The A2 motorway, which connects Amsterdam to Maastricht, passes the airport. This is one of the busiest roads in the country, so be prepared to hit traffic almost as soon as you leave the airport. Traffic in the Netherlands drives on the right, so if you're not used to driving abroad it might take a little while to grow accustomed to it.
Getting to your destination
One of the Netherlands oldest cities, Maastricht is full of old world charm with cobblestoned squares and beautiful cathedrals.
It takes just over 15 minutes to drive into downtown Maastricht from the airport. There are roughly seven thousand parking spaces in Maastricht. Parking is cheaper the further you go from the centre. In the centre of town you can expect to pay €2.60 (about £1.85) per hour: if you venture outside it's €1.40 (just over £1) per hour with a maximum day charge of €6 (about £4.30). There are also 'Park and Walk' lots, which are walking distance from the city centre. Here the maximum day charge is €8 (about £5.75) with an hourly rate of €1.50 (about £1.10).

It takes just over 25 minutes to drive into downtown Aachen from Maastricht Airport. On-street parking charges apply between 9am and 8pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 6pm on Saturdays. In the city centre you can expect to pay €1.10 (about 80p) for the first hour, €1.90 (about £1.35) for the second, and €2 (£1.45) for every subsequent hour. You can expect to pay about €13 (about £9.35) for a full day in one of the city's car parks.

It takes just over half an hour to drive to Hasselt from Maastricht Airport. The city centre is pedestrian only, but there are lots of free car parks where you can leave your vehicle for the day while you take public transport into the city.
