Where to hire a car at Malta International Airport

Driving around Malta International Airport
The roads on Malta are small, and the area around the airport is no different. You can follow the main road outside the airport to most of the towns on the island. It’s a good idea to rent a car with an in-built sat-nav to help you navigate the island.
Getting to your destination
Malta’s capital is one of Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel destinations for 2015 and it’s easy to see why. Packed with history (the city appears on the UNESCO World Heritage List) and blessed with a laid back but brilliant nightlife, Valletta has plenty of charm.
It takes about 15 minutes to drive to Valletta from Malta International Airport. Valletta is a small city, and it can be tough to find on-street parking. There’s a large Park & Ride on the outskirts of the city as well as a few multi-storey car parks in the city centre. Parking rates are cheap compared to the UK, so it won’t cost much to leave your car for the day. If you’re basing yourself in Valletta be sure to choose a hotel with a guest car park. This will make life a lot easier.
Along with St Julian’s and Paceville, Sliema is one of Malta’s most fashionable destinations. This is where you’ll spot the hip crowd, relaxing on the promenade with a mixed drink or dancing the night away in one of the trendy nightspots.
It takes around 20 minutes to drive to Sliema from the airport. There are two multi-storey car parks, and plenty of on-street parking bays. It’s easiest to find a space between 5pm and 7pm, after the office crowd has left for the day and before Malta’s party set descend. The easiest way to guarantee a safe space for your hire car is to book a hotel with car parking.
Excellent nightlife and beautiful beaches have cemented Bugibba’s reputation as one of the top resort towns in Malta.
It takes just over half an hour to drive to Bugibba from the airport. Parking is abundant, but make sure you only park in spaces marked with white lines.
