There are two petrol stations close to Sunshine Coast Airport. For drivers travelling north on route 6, there’s a 7-Eleven just five minutes from the airport. There’s also a BP garage five minutes away in the opposite direction. It’s located on David Low Way, a continuation of Runway Drive out of the airport.
Driving around Sunshine Coast Airport
Sunshine Coast Airport is well-connected to a selection of main routes around the region. Route 6 travels north along the coast towards Yaroomba and beyond. The Sunshine Motorway (or route 70) is also within easy reach.

Mooloolaba is one of the Sunshine Coast’s most popular beach resorts and it’s not hard to see why. The idyllic, white sandy beach has safe, sheltered waters and some excellent seafood cafés. Around the town, there are lots of great shopping and dining options along with the UnderWater World aquarium.
Mooloolaba is just 15 minutes’ drive from Sunshine Coast Airport. The most direct route takes the 70 south, although branching off onto route 6 is the more scenic option. In the town, there’s a large car park right by the beach however this can get very busy during the peak season. When it’s full, drivers can try a number of resort car parks on First Avenue which offer parking spaces for guests and also a number for the general public.
Maleny can be found inland from the coast. It’s part of a lush, green region of rural fields and rainforest. Maleny village is based around the Obi Obi Creek, great for a relaxing nature stroll. The village itself is full of charming boutiques, organic cafes and lots of contemporary art galleries too. Visitors can explore the Sunshine Coast’s natural landscape and enjoy the attractions of an alternative, creative community.
Maleny is 40 minutes’ drive from Sunshine Coast Airport taking route 70 south and then route 6 west. There is plenty of street parking available around the village and bigger car parks at attractions.
Peregian Beach is a relaxed and friendly place to enjoy the sun, sea and sand. There’s a skate park and surf club right by the beach, a town square of cafes and boutiques and regular live music events. You’ll find many visitors and locals embracing the laid back atmosphere and walking around the town or down to the beach barefoot. The town is also surrounded by beautiful natural parks, great for walking, cycling and wildlife spotting adventures.
Just north of Sunshine Coast Airport, Peregian Beach is around 15 minutes’ drive away. Drivers should take route 70 north although, again, the coastal road route 6 provides a more scenic approach.
