Car Hire at Little Rock Airforce Base

Little Rock Airforce Base is a military airport just outside Jacksonville, Arkansas. There are no passenger flights to or from the airport at the moment. Car hire from the airport is possible, however, so we've put together a quick guide.

Driving around Little Rock Airforce Base
Traffic in the USA drives on the right-hand side of the road. Automatic cars are more popular than manual ones. Take some time to get used to your vehicle before driving it off the base. The base itself has lots of small local roads. Be prepared to hit the highway once you leave, as quite a few pass nearby.
Getting to your destination
It's unlikely that you're travelling to Little Rock Airforce Base on a holiday. If you're renting a car you're probably planning on exploring the local area. These are some of the most popular destinations nearby.
Surprisingly cosmopolitan, the state capital of Arkansas is an excellent city break destination. There are some interesting museums, a fantastic dining scene, and a calendar packed with annual events.
It would take about 20 minutes to drive into Little Rock from the Airforce Base. Like any large city, finding a parking space can be difficult. In Little Rock you'll find a good mix of metered spaces and municipal car parks. Most parking meters charge $1-$1.25 (about 65p-80p) per hour, although time limits do apply. Always check local signage before parking your car. Charge periods are from 8am-6pm, Monday to Friday, with free parking on weekends and some national holidays.
Bill Clinton's childhood home offers a wealth of historic and cultural attractions. Famous for its eponymous Hot Springs, part of the downtown area has been named a National Park. You can enjoy the healing waters for yourself at Bathhouse Row. There are also some excellent opportunities to get outdoors, with hiking trails and golf courses nearby.
It takes about an hour and 15 minutes to drive to Hot Springs from Little Rock Airforce Base. There are plenty of places to park in the city. Choose from on-street spaces and parking lots. Many hotels in Hot Springs have guest car parks.
Musical heritage and excellent barbecue make Tennessee's largest city a popular destination for tourists visiting America. The city also has a range of eclectic museums including The Pink Palace and Graceland.
It takes just over two hours to drive to Memphis from Little Rock Airforce Base. There are over 40 thousand parking spaces in downtown Memphis, and the city famously has some of the lowest parking rates in the USA. If you're planning on staying for a few days it's worth searching for hotels in Memphis with guest parking facilities.
