Car Hire at Kuwait Airport

This information is correct as of October 2015

Where to hire a car at Kuwait Airport

Hertz, Avis, National, Dollar and Budget are the main international brands offering car hire at Kuwait Airport. Car hire is also available from local companies such as Rekab, Araba, Drive, Al-Khalijia, Makfm and Behbani Group.

Petrol stations near Kuwait Airport

If you select a 'full to full' car rental agreement you will need to hand your car back with a full tank.

There is a petrol station just off Magwa Road, in the Sabhan Industrial Area. If you're approaching from the north you will need to pass the exit for the airport and come off at the next one. Drive under the motorway and turn left to reach the petrol station. It takes about five minutes to drive back to the airport once you've fuelled up here.

Driving around Kuwait Airport

The roads surrounding the airport are quite major, so be prepared to hit traffic immediately. Traffic in Kuwait drives on the right hand side of the road. Kuwaitis have a reputation for dangerous driving, so keep your wits about you: especially while you get used to driving on the right. It may also take you a little while to get used to driving a left hand drive vehicle. Your driving license will need to be validated before you can drive in Kuwait: the car hire company or insurance firm will sort this out for you.

Getting to your destination

The easiest way to get around is by car, and it doesn't take long to reach some of the country's top destinations. Remember to search for hotels in Kuwait with secure parking to keep your rental car safe.

Salmiya

The 'Champs-Elysees' of Kuwait, Salmiya is a high-brow city happy to flaunt its fancy shops and beautiful beaches.

Al Jahra

Camel racing and a historic fort have made this desert city a popular destination for culture vultures. Military history buffs will be interested to know that Al Jahra was the site of a famous Gulf War battle, as well as a failed Saudi invasion attempt in 1920.
