Petrol stations near Isle of Man Airport

Depending on your car rental agreement, you may need to hand your car back with a full tank.

The cleverly named Airport Garage is the nearest petrol station. It’s half a mile north of the airport (about two minutes drive).

Driving around Isle of Man Airport

The Airport is passed by the A5 Road, which connects Douglas to Port Erin. The road also passes through Ballasalla, Santon, Castletown and past Port St Mary, as well as crossing the Fairy Bridge. The Isle of Man is a favourite destination for road racers (some roads have no speed cameras, others have no speed limits) so watch out for fast cars and motorbikes: especially during summer when the Tourist Trophy (TT) road race is taking place.

Getting to your destination

Douglas

The island’s capital is a bustling seaside town with a working harbour and plenty of lovely sandy beaches. This is the centre of commerce on the Isle of Man, with plenty of high street shops, making it a great base for your trip.

Douglas is about 25 minutes drive from Isle of Man Airport. Like all towns and villages on the Isle of Man, you will need a parking disc to leave your car in most parking bays. The discs are shaped like a clock, and you set it to show the time that you arrived. A parking disc should be provided to you by your car rental firm, but if not you can pick one up at most police stations, post offices and commissioner’s offices on the island. There are also some council run car parks in Douglas where you pay by the hour.

Port Erin

The hub of the island’s southern district has been popular with British tourists since the Victorian period. Surrounded by gorgeous beaches and lovely walking trails, Port Erin is the perfect spot for nature lovers.

Port Erin is just 15 minutes drive away from the airport. Parking discs are required for on-street parking (see information regarding Douglas).

Peel

The ‘Sunset City’ can be found on the Isle of Man’s western coast. Peel has plenty to keep you occupied: from history museums and kipper curers, to the island’s only cathedral.

Peel is just over 25 minutes drive away from the airport. You will need a parking disc to leave your car in most parking spaces: see information regarding Douglas.
