Car Hire from Havana Airport

Car Hire from Havana Airport

Cuba is known as an island paradise. Its colonial past, Cuban cigars and Havana rum have made it world famous. Visitors arriving to Havana will find incredible beaches, historic sights and beautiful natural landscapes within easy reach, particularly when they hire a car from Havana Airport.

Where to hire a car at Havana Airport

There are a number of car hire companies operating at Havana Airport. They are all located either in the arrivals area or just outside in the car park. Terminal 2 and 3 are home to Cubacar, Rex, Havanautos and Via Transgaviota car hire desks whilst Terminal 5 is home to just Via Transgaviota.

Petrol Stations near Havana Airport

If you need to return your hire car with a full tank of petrol, you’ll find petrol stations located just 10 minutes’ drive from the airport in either direction. There are service stations located on Avenida Rancho Boyeros heading into Havana city and out towards Bejucal too.

Driving around Havana Airport

Havana Airport sits on a well-connected road network. From the airport, Avenida Rancho Boyeros and route 246 travel north towards Havana city centre. Route 11 provides a partial ring road around the city. Heading away from the city, there’s route 4 which travels through San Cristobal and Pinar del Rio, and route 1 which travels towards Guines and the Parque Nacional Cienaga de Zapata.
You just need your standard UK driving license to drive in Cuba. Roads and driving standards around the island vary and for every well-paved, well-signposted route you come across, there’ll be a poorly lit, potholed road around the corner. You may want to consider hiring a 4WD if you’re planning to venture into rural areas.

Getting to your destination
