Driving around Fargo Airport

The I-29 interstate (Kansas City to the Canadian border) is just five minutes drive away from the airport, and I-24 (Montana to Michigan) is about ten minutes away. The airport is close to the city, and most of the roads surrounding it are small local roads. Automatic transmissions are the most popular form of vehicle in the USA. Getting to your destination

Film buffs won't recognise any of the scenery from the 1996 Coen Brothers' movie, as the film was shot across the river in Minnesota. Still, an interesting history, beautiful scenery, and a plethora of arts museums means there's plenty to keep you occupied in Fargo.

It takes about ten minutes to drive to downtown Fargo from the airport. All city-run parking lots offer free overnight parking, from 7pm to 8am. This is to facilitate street-cleaning. During the day on-street parking in downtown Fargo is free, but is time restricted. Check local signs for more details. There are eleven parking lots in the city, which don't have time limits but you do need to pay to use them.

Grand Forks

Chilled out and rural, Grand Forks is a great place to unwind. Enjoy hunting and ice fishing, hit the downtown bars, or escape to Canada for the afternoon: Winnipeg is just two hours away.

If you can't find cheap flights to Grand Forks, driving from Fargo Airport is a good alternative as the journey only takes about an hour and ten minutes. On-street parking is time limited between 8am and 5pm, from Monday to Friday.

Devil's Lake

North Dakota's largest lake offers plenty of recreational opportunities all year round: from cross-country skiing and ice fishing in the winter to water-sports and bird-watching during the summer.

It takes about two and a half hours to drive to Devil's Lake from Fargo Airport. Most of the hotels in the area have guest car parks.
