Hippy-dippy Byron Bay is famous for its excellent beaches and laid back surf culture. It's one of the most popular beach resorts in Australia. By day you can enjoy whale watching, water-sports and sun-bathing; by night you can get involved in the lively nightlife.

During summer (December-February) the town becomes very busy. Parking charges and time limits apply: always check local signs before leaving your car.
A National Surfing Reserve, the lazy beach town of Lennox Head is a must visit for water-sport enthusiasts. The nightlife is lower key than Byron Bay, so it's a great choice if you like your surf holiday with a side of peace and quiet.
