Driving around Asheville Airport
The I-26 interstate (Tennessee to South Carolina) passes the airport. The rest of the roads are small, mostly single carriageways. You can avoid the interstate if you want to, although it's the quickest way to travel longer distances. Traffic in the USA drives on the right-hand side of the road, which can take a bit of getting used to. Cars with automatic transmissions are also much more popular. If you're not comfortable with this, specify 'manul transmission' when searching for car hire.
Getting to your destination
Surrounded by beautiful mountains and renowned for its laid back way of life, the city of Asheville is one of Western North Carolina's most desirable destinations. It is the perfect base for exploring the region, especially if you enjoy a bit of boho city buzz.
It takes about half an hour to drive into downtown Asheville from the airport. We recommend searching for hotels with car parking if you're staying overnight. There are 700 metered parking spaces in the downtown district, with a time limit of up to two hours. Parking costs $1.25 (about 80p) per hour. This is enforced from 8am-6pm Monday to Saturday, with free parking on Sundays. Parking is also free on national holidays. There are also four parking garages where you can park for an unlimited amount of time. These usually charge $1 (about 65p) per hour.

It takes about an hour and fifty minutes to drive to Robbinsville from Asheville Airport. Graham County is very rural, so parking is ample.
