Where to hire a car at Stockholm Arlanda Airport
Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt all offer car rental from Stockholm Arlanda Airport. You'll find the Alamo, Enterprise and National desks in Terminal 2. Sixt are in the low-cost parking facility which can be reached by Parking Bus Alfa. The others are located in the car rental area, which you can reach using Parking Bus Beta.

Driving around Stockholm Arlanda Airport
The E4 motorway is a six minute drive from the terminal. This is a large, fast road, so make sure you're happy with your car and know exactly where you're going before joining it. Traffic in Sweden drives on the right-hand side of the road, so keep your wits about you: especially when making turns and going around roundabouts.
Getting to your destination
Cosmopolitan, clean, and completely cool, the capital of Sweden is a top choice for a city break. Made up of 14 islands connected by 50 bridges, the city is a mini version of the nearby Stockholm archipelago: which has over 24 thousand islands.
It takes just over half an hour to drive into central Stockholm from the airport. There is metered on-street parking throughout the city centre which is charged at SEK 12 (about 95p) per hour. There are 21 park and ride facilities on the outskirts of the city, ideal if you're popping in for a day trip but not perfect if you're planning on staying in the city. If you are staying for one night or more, we recommend searching for hotels in Stockholm with guest parking.
Historic and lively, Uppsala is home to Sweden's largest cathedral and two universities. There's great nightlife, some fantastic places to grab a bite to eat, and quite a few cultural attractions. These include the massive university library, which is home to more than five million books including a 6th century bible.
Uppsala is just over half an hour from Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Metered parking is available in the city centre, although it is more expensive than in Stockholm. You can expect to pay upwards of SEK 25 (about £1.96) per hour.
Sweden's oldest city is home to a wealth of archaeological sites dating back to the Viking era, but is also a popular destination for outdoor sports. During the summer you can swim, hike and go mountain biking while winter is the best season for ice skating and Nordic skiing.
It takes a little over 15 minutes to drive to Sigtuna from Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Free parking is available in the city centre, and many hotels have parking for guests.
