There's a Clean Energy gas station on the airport grounds. There is also a 7-Eleven on Gibson Boulevard SE, just a few minutes' drive from the airport.
Driving around Albuquerque International Sunport
Traffic in America drives on the right. Take some time to get used to your vehicle before hitting the road: it's likely that you'll be given a left-hand-drive vehicle, and it may also be an automatic. Once you're comfortable with the controls you can drive out of the airport onto Sunport Boulevard. This leads onto the I-25 interstate, which runs from south to north and terminates in Wyoming.

It only takes ten minutes to drive into downtown Albuquerque from the airport. You'll find plenty of places to park in downtown Albuquerque, from car parks to on-street spaces. Check local signage to find out if parking is free or metered. Lots of hotels in Albuquerque have guest parking, too.

It takes just over an hour to drive to Santa Fe from Albuquerque International Sunport. The parking meters in downtown Santa Fe chage $1* (about 66p) per hour between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday. There are also plenty of parking lots and multi-storey car parks. For extra convenience, choose a hotel in Santa Fe with its own car park.
This small town is a perfect base for exploring the great outdoors. During the summer you can hike, and during winter you can ski in the nearby Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Afterwards you can enjoy people watching on main street.
It takes about two and a half hours to drive to Taos from Albuquerque Airport. There are more than 600 free parking spaces in the town. Some spaces are metered and charge 50* cents (about 33p) per hour, with a four hour time limit.
