Why fly Air Canada

How to check in

You can check in with Air Canada online, via mobile, or at a self-service airport kiosk. Web and mobile check-in open 24 hours before departure. They both close at least 60 minutes before departure on international routes, and 45 minutes before departure for domestic flights within Canada. Check-in from the self-service kiosks opens 12 hours before departure, with the same deadlines as online and mobile check-in. Unaccompanied minors, people who need medical assistance, and those travelling with a pet will need to check in in person at the airport desk.

Seat pitch (the distance between your seat and the one in front) ranges from 30 to 32 inches in Economy class, and sits around 70 inches in business class. Some aircraft have less legroom, for example the Boeing 767-300ER (763) rouge has a seat pitch of 37 inches in Business Class. It doesn't cost extra to pre-book a standard seat, unless you're flying Tango within Canada or between Canada and the USA. In this case you'll need to pay between CAD $10 and $40 for a standard seat. You can also pre-book a preferred seat with extra legroom. Prices start at CAD $19 per flight segment.

Booking fees

The fees collected by Air Canada will depend on where you're flying to. They can include airport improvement fees, foreign taxes, and federal security charges.

You can also have a browse through the airline's magazine, enRoute. Air Canada is the first Canadian airline to offer in-flight Wi-Fi, which is available on flights within North America. Complimentary meals and wine are served in international Economy class. The cabin also has power sockets for charging laptops and your USB devices. Air Canada Transcontinental Business Class has lie-flat seats in comfy pods, so you can get a really good sleep (especially as you're given a plush duvet and pillow to snuggle down with). The chairs also have a massage function, so you'll arrive for your meeting feeling extra refreshed.
