Monarch is set to introduce its new service from London Gatwick to Crown Point Tobago in mid-December, reports the Tobago News.
XL Airways had been responsible for transporting around 70 per cent of visitors to the island alongside British Airways and Virgin Atlantic.
The Civil Aviation Authority has agreed to fly home around 75,000 stranded passengers that have booked flights through the carrier's parent tour company XL, although the remaining 10,000 that booked through XL Airways direct will have to book their own flights, reports The Guardian.
Monarch recently found itself thrust into the public eye as part of the ITV2 show, CelebAir. The cheap flights carrier will take on 11 celebrities for an eight week stint in training.
"No UK carrier has a better knowledge of the airline industry than we do and we are proud to be sharing this expertise with the celebrities and taking responsibility for their training and mentoring," Monarch managing director Tim Jeans commented.
