Skyscanner has appointed one of the UK’s top digital executives, Frank Skivington, to the newly created position of VP Commercial.
This key role is fundamental to driving Skyscanner’s continued rapid growth, establishing its position as the number one website for flight information in the world, and paving the way for future diversification into other markets.
Previously Head of Sales with s1, Frank was one of s1’s founding directors, growing the company to be a multi-million digital player with market-leading internet offerings in many markets, including recruitment, news and property.
“This is a very exciting time to be moving into the travel sector,” said Frank Skivington. “The traditional media and recruitment areas of the digital sector are going to find it more difficult in the current economic climate but travel still has huge potential. Market demand remains high despite the recession, and the online travel sector itself has no real dominant player. Skyscanner is becoming massively popular with both users and airlines and there is a real opportunity here to take ownership of this sector.”
He continued: “Having been involved from launch with Scotland’s most successful digital media company in s1, it was always going to take an exceptional opportunity to attract my attention. Skyscanner is just such an opportunity. Exceptional people, leading edge technology, an aggressive growth plan and a crystal clear strategy all contribute to a hugely compelling proposition.”
