Air Berlin is to start flying to the Channel Island of Jersey from summer 2009, it has been revealed.
It will be the first time that the carrier has operated in Jersey, the largest of the group of islands which lie off the coast of northern France.
The route will be serviced by a new Bombardier Q400 which will fly from Dusseldorf every Saturday.
Flight time will be in the region of two hours, so given a 14:00 start from the German city the plane will arrive in Jersey at 14:50 local time.
The news comes hot on the heels of the decision of Air Berlin to launch a fourth daily flight between Dusseldorf and London Stansted.
"Dusseldorf has become Air Berlin's most important hub by providing UK passengers with easy connections and access to major German, European and international destinations with exceptionally fast transit times," commented Titus Johnson, country manager for the UK and Ireland.
"The fourth daily frequency will offer travellers from UK the flexibility of flying at convenient times throughout the day."
