Finnair has launched a text message check-in service for passengers travelling on flights to London and Manchester.
The service, which is available to Finnair Plus members, allows frequent flyers to go directly to the departure gate and avoid the usual check-in procedure, providing that they are travelling with hand luggage only.
Customers with baggage wishing to use the service can leave their luggage at one of the baggage drop desks in one of the airports' departure halls.
Markku Remes, who is responsible for customer experience at Finnair, said that the service is "very popular" because it speeds up airport formalities.
"Our aim is to incorporate continually more destinations in our network into this service," he commented.
Text check-in is also available to passengers on scheduled flights to Stockholm, Gothenburg and Copenhagen.
In September, Finnair launched flights to Delhi, a route representing the shortest flight-time between the EU and India at just six hours and 30 minutes.
