Amsterdam tops the list of European cities favoured by stag groups, as cheap flights and the cost of accommodation are key factors in choosing where to go.
Close behind the Dutch capital are stag-dos in Bratislava, Prague and Riga, with Dublin the fifth most popular location for a pre-wedding party, according to hen and stag specialists Designaventure.
Anna Makin Made, project manager for the firm, said that trips abroad for stag-dos usually need to stay within a budget and so flights and accommodation need to be affordable.
"Usually if stags are going abroad they want to spend up to the £200 mark, that seems to be quite a favourable amount" she said.
Hen parties are less likely to head overseas, however, as women tend to prioritise their cash differently and "would rather spend their money on their outfit for the wedding", Ms Made added.
A Post Office report forecast earlier this year that city breaks in Riga, Dubrovnik and other eastern European destinations could attract more UK holidaymakers as a result of economic uncertainty. It said that Black Monday and the emergence of cheap flights boosted the popularity of Prague, Barcelona and Dublin in the 80s and 90s.
