Work will begin next month on the $30 million (£15.2 million) project which will involve the construction of a new premium check-in pavilion.
An exclusive check-in area for Club World and Executive Club Silver passengers will also be built and the airline plans to renovate its existing First Class and Concorde Lounges.
The work is due to coincide with the launch of several new routes from Europe to JFK, explained BA's executive vice president of the America's Robin Hayees.
He commented: "The redevelopment project is perfectly timed as British Airways plans to expand the number of flights to the UK as well as launch, this June, its new OpenSkies airline operating flights to Paris and New York."
